Using NASA Technology:
Innovative Fiber with 50% Aerogel by Volume for Unmatched Insulation
Outlast Technologies GmbH has pioneered a breakthrough in textile insulation by embedding aerogel - a remarkably light and effective insulator - directly into fibers. This innovation significantly enhances insulation properties without adding weight, enabling ultra-lightweight, high-performance apparel. Independent testing confirms that Aersulate® fibers provide up to 35% better insulation than conventional ones, setting a new standard in textile technology.
Lightweight, Sustainable, High-Performance: A New Standard for Apparel
The aerogel-rich filling fibers significantly reduces the weight of end products, making it ideal for premium sportswear, jackets, ski pants, and work wear. This is achieved through its exceptionally high aerogel content, which constitutes 50% of the volume. Such a high concentration enables brands to fully utilize aerogels remarkable properties, delivering outstanding performance products.
Unlike conventional insulation materials like foams, wadding, or nonwovens that rely on trapped air for thermal regulation, aerogel encapsulates air within its fiber structure. This allows Aersulate products to maintain their insulating properties even under pressure, where traditional materials often lose effectiveness. As a result, they offer a significant advantage, providing consistent, reliable insulation in high-stress areas such as under backpack straps or at the knees and elbows.
Aersulate technology also supports sustainability: Aerogel is a silicate-based solid derived from quartz sand, which is a natural material, while the fibers are made from wood-based viscose, a renewable and eco-friendly resource.
